Menstrual Hibernation: Slowing down for our Moon cycle

Menstrual Hibernation: Slowing down for our Moon cycle

Usually when we get our period, also called our moon, we feel the need to go inward, it feels like we would to hiberante. We get this feeling of wanting to get underneath a very comfy blanket and staying there, in a safe, warm, and somewhat dark place where we can just be with ourselves. This feeling of hibernation typically occurs when our menstrual period arrives.

In today's rapidly changing world, societal narratives often pressure women to keep going without regard for their body's signals and needs.

The menstrual phase, which we refer to as the Wise Archetype, is a time of the month when slowing down is essential.

We are at 50% of our energy: Rest

During our period days, our body operates at approximately 50% of its usual energy capacity as it focuses on shedding the inner uterine lining. It's crucial to rest and be gentle during this time. Give ourself lots of love.

While we understand that we may feel the need to stay active, it's beneficial to take it slow, especially on the first day of bleeding. Giving your body the rest it needs is part of self-love and self-care.

Take it slow, and be gentle with yourself.

Your blood is a health indicator:

Our menstrual cycle is an indicator of our overall health, and although women’s wisdom traditions have known this for hundreds of years, allopathic medical practitioners are starting to agree with this fact, too

According to a statement first released by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) in 2015, the menstrual cycle should be considered as a “fifth vital sign”, making the case that the menstrual pattern should be considered alongside heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital signs as an indispensable tool for identifying health issues.

Talk to your specialist about your menstrual bleeding.

Time of great wisdom:

In ancestral wisdom, this phase is referred to as the Wise Archetype. It symbolizes a culmination of experiences throughout the menstrual cycle, including pre-ovulation, ovulation, pre-menstrual, and now, menstruation.

As you enter this phase, your body, mind, and soul have traversed a significant journey, accumulating wisdom along the way. To deepen your connection with this phase, consider journaling. Reflect on the past 20-25 days, exploring your emotional, physical, and mental experiences to gain insights and understanding.

Use our Wise Archetype product line to support you in this phase. At the end of the day, “you are a sacred woman in the making”.
